The Passionate Cook’s Essentials reflects owner Lisa Hutchinson’s passion for all things food, including top-of-the-line kitchenware, fine foods, artisan cheese and more. If you are looking for a gorgeous hammered copper Cataplana for your next Bouillabase or an authentic Spanish paella pan, look no further! Hard-to-find condiments include Moroccan-preserved lemons and Piquillo peppers and Bomba rice from Spain. You’ll also find entertaining-related giftware such as Emile Henry Pizza Stones, Swissmar Raclette and Fondue Pots, Handcrafted pottery by Hilborne and much more.
The store also boasts a large cheese and charcuterie counter, filled with artisan cheese from around the world. Small batch charcuterie such as wild boar sausage, duck foie gras parfait and many nitrite and nitrate free salamis. Whether you are coming in for a slice of your favourite Gorgonzola or a cheese board for your next party, we have amazing cheeses, that you MUST taste to believe. Our fromager Cecilia is always happy to chat cheese and offer you her expert selections.
For the foodie looking to expand their recipe collection and cooking expertise, Lisa and Cecilia teach in-store cooking and cheese classes. All classes include recipes and a full meal.

Lisa Hutchinson, Owner
Lisa Hutchinson is the owner of the Passionate Cook’s Essentials in Uxbridge, Ontario.
Food has been Lisa’s passion since she was a little girl. With parents and a grandmother instilling a love of food in her from a young age, Lisa has included her love of food in all aspects of her life. She has had a catering company which catered parties, meetings and weddings for friends and family and hosted many team food events during her corporate years.
In 2009, she took a love of travel, cooking school class expertise, and voracious appetite for food and drink and opened the Passionate Cook’s Essentials in Uxbridge, Ontario. Whether you are a self taught culinary artist, or a seasoned professional, you will find everything you need at her store at 68 Brock St. W., Uxbridge.
After 28 years working the corporate world and living in Toronto her whole life, she has found her home in Uxbridge with her husband, two cats and a dog.
Cecilia Smith, Fromager
Cecilia Smith is the Passionate Fromager. Having been a cheese enthusiast from a young age, Cecilia embarked on her second career by completing her Professional Fromager Certificate at George Brown College in Toronto. The judges commented that the cheese Cecilia presented was excellent and that the proprietor of the store and it’s customers would be lucky to have access to such well-cared for cheese.
Not only is Cecilia our Fromager, but she also teaches many of our cooking classes. Through her great love of travel, Cecilia teaches classes on exotic locals such as Vietnam, Korea, Mongolia etc . We are so proud to have Cecilia educating Uxbridge about artisan cheese and sharing her culinary passion with us.
Sofi is my wonderful sous chef as well as our in-store designer. She has a wonderful flair with all things design and you may have also seen her designs on the Uxbridge home tour where she has been a constant for many years.
Sofi’s passion for food comes from many years working in her Father’s restaurant and then later cooking for her two sons. Now that both sons are chefs, Sofi can be found in the kitchen with her boys chatting about food and cooking amazing meals!
Dina has a background and wealth of knowledge in marketing and is a kitchen product expert. Dina has a flair for ethnic foods and the hotter the better!
She enjoys cooking for her two girls and learning about the wide world of food and cheese in the store.
