Despite a spectacularly warm October that felt more like midsummer than autumn, the calendar month has turned and November is upon us. It’s time to make the pumpkins into pie, soup or compost and bust out the flannels (hello plaid shirts and cozy sheets). The thought of snow seems unimaginable but we must start thinking about that “W” season that will be here before you know it. November 11th is always  honoured in such a profound and respectful way by our town as we take the time to remember our veterans past and present. Thank you to all those who participate in this endeavour. This also marks the date we start the slow build to the holidays ahead. Decking the halls with boughs of greens (bits of which I seem to find well into July), stocking the shelves and every available surface with merchandise and yummy treats for entertaining and gift-giving. We will be hosting the last few cooking classes in November and our new classes will be released for sale on December 3rd, just in time for holiday gifting. Christmas orders are rolling in as you may have noticed when the store is filled with boxes from multiple orders arriving at the same time! We are also busy conjuring up delicious things for the freezer to make this time of year as stress-free as possible for you. Think easy-prep appetizers, comforting prepared meals and slice and bake cookies. To quote one of our favourite ladies… “How easy is that?”

We love the hustle and bustle of the holidays and work hard to try to find unique and classic gifts, fine food items, cheeses from near and far and prepared foods as delicious as those you would make in your own home. We hope to be part of that for you.  Santa Claus will be swinging through town on November 15th. We are on his parade route and will be providing free yummy hot chocolate. Drop on by friends! Things are happening!

The Perfect Gift Basket

Did you know we make amazing gift baskets? It's one of our favourite things to make because we take such care in curating the perfect gift for the lucky recipient

The Christmas orders are coming in fast and furious. We wanted to respect our veterans prior to decorating the store so we will be ready for you November 12.

Saturday November 15 we will be handing out free hot chocolate to celebrate the Santa Clause parade.

CHEESE NEWS

You choose what you want or we are happy to make the choices for you. Prices are based on the weight of the products chosen and we can work within whatever your budget is. Are you looking for crowd pleasing favourites for 12 or a higher end curated board for a small gathering with foodie friends? Either way we will make it look fabulous with the addition of dried fruit, nuts, seeds, olives, chutney and garnish. All you need to do is remove the lid and it is ready to roll! Let the nibbling begin!

A perfect pairing...
Aside from our own house made Passionate Cook's Red Onion Chutney, we have a wide variety of jams, chutneys and jellies to pair with all of our cheeses.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Lisa's Tortiere

I know I posted this last year but you can never have enough Tortiere

Tortiere is a big family tradition in our home. My mother made it, Mike's Mom made it and I make it.

I took both of their recipes and added my own touch and think I have a winning recipe.

Accompanied with chili sauce or salsa, this meal can't be beat!
